電影【detroit】由曾經執導過【危機倒數】、【00:30凌晨密令】的奧斯卡金獎導演kathryn ann bigelow所掌鏡，並且改編自發生於1967年的真實暴動事件，刻劃出美國嚴重的種族歧視問題，同時也影射了當今美國的嚴重社會種族問題。

電影【detroit】網羅了john boyega（《star wars: 原力覺醒》）、will poulter（《移動迷宮》、《全家就是米家》）、algee smith、jason mitchell、john krasinski與anthony mackie等優秀的新興非裔美人演員，將1967年的暴動事件，盡量考究實據，並且還原當時的真相；而在原聲帶部分，為了要能體現60年代黑人的真實與意象，特地選用了眾多60年代「motown摩城」時期的經典音樂，包括了節奏藍調與靈魂音樂等風格，也找來許多配樂大師特地譜寫歌曲，而其中最受矚目的，便是嘻哈天團the roots所特地為電影撰寫的全新歌曲。
