音樂劇【motown: the musical】是根據1959年改變美國流行音樂文化的真實故事改編而成，描述motown唱片公司的創辦人berry gordy, jr.由羽量級拳擊手轉變成重量級流行音樂鉅子，造就diana ross、michael jackson、stevie wonder、smokey robinson、marvin gaye…等流行樂巨星的不朽傳奇故事。這齣由berry gordy, jr.編劇、東尼獎最佳音樂劇「rent」製作人kevin mccollum打造的音樂劇，藉由motown唱片公司經典名曲的貫穿，訴說這個音樂名廠如何突破障礙，塑造截然不同的美國生活風貌，讓底特律之聲成為打動人心的音樂的歷程。音樂劇在2013年4月14日於美國百老匯首演後深獲好評，紐約時報驚呼：「一趟享樂之旅！」
