1963年一曲『the girl from ipanema』造成世界性的巴西音樂風潮，將近半個世紀，翻唱與重新演奏版本多達一千五百個左右。1964 年美國最暢銷的流行團體就是來自英國的披頭四合唱團，沒想到這種充滿異國情調的巴西音樂，卻異軍突起成為最受歡迎的國際音樂語彙。
本輯收錄有31個原唱與翻唱版本，從巴西歌手的演唱到爵士或古典的呈現。包括女歌手娜娜以法國香頌的詮釋、輕音樂團波爾˙瑪麗亞與史坦利˙布雷克樂團、大提琴家朱利安˙洛伊˙韋伯、女歌手雪莉˙荷恩與莎拉˙范恩等等，同樣的樂曲卻有各種不同情調。本輯收錄的原曲原唱錄音室版本更是1964年葛萊美獎的年度最佳唱片得主。bossa nova樂風因為首歌曲的奇妙活力，讓世人似乎一到夏天就想起那種熟悉旋律與節奏的內心共鳴。
